Thick face,black heart

It is really fucked up how real life is so similar to politics. And I am not talking about the life we see on TV in all of those dumb ass reality shows, I'm not talking about a hip hop video, I'm not talking about a crying teenager who is angry that she got a Lexus for her 16th birthday while all she wanted was a Benz (this actually happened, it's somewhere on youtube).I'm talking about a real, ordinary, every day life of someone trying to make it in this world and maybe live through a couple of nice moments here and there. So, in this every day life you meet so many politicians, most of them very close to you, and you don't even know this until they show themselves in their true light.

I mean what is politics really?? It is a fight for obtaining and holding power,a fight sometimes verbal, sometimes physical, sometimes without casualties, sometimes through genocide. Sometimes subtle like a silent chess move. But if it is a fight for obtaining power, how is it any different from any real life activity?? People fight to obtain power each day,in one way or another. You, whoever reads this, might have a friend who lies to you, for some personal, cheap, material reason of theirs, you might have a coworker who stabs you in the back just so that he/she gets a promotion, and what is the underlying reason for this?? Ambition to gain power, to gain a safer and stronger position in life.So many politicians........

.....it is actually so fucked up that when I think about it, we talk with disgust about the real politicians in the governments, but at least they show their faces in public, broadcast their hypocrisy out in the open via public TV channels and radios, which actually makes them way more honest than the ones you have close and that might be working you right now, just so that they get what they always wanted....

In the beginning of 20th century, a Chinese politician and scholar Li Zongwu published a philosophical work called "Thick Black Theory". In there he says that to obtain power, people need to be ruthless, backstabbing hypocrites, or as he puts it "to posses "thick faces" (shamelessness) and "black heart" (ruthlessness)". Only like this, they can first obtain and then keep their power. Soon after several printings, his published theory was officially banned in China. However, as it is known, the Thick Black theory was one of the most favorite readings of Mao Tse Tung, eventually it became very popular (again) in the 90's, and today the theory is used as one of the basic postulates in the Chinese marketing and business as the modern Chinese society sees doing business as war and the marketplace as battlefield.

And what does this tell us? This implies that having a thick face and a black heart, today, is actually normal. It's something that e.g. the Chinese are taking for granted, as an advantage, as a must-have even, if you want to succeed in this world. And it is not only the Chinese, the theory is being taught in numerous universities around the world.

I see this as a confirmation that we are surrounded by politicians, that our everyday world is the same but that we evolved in a race of hypocrites and liars, species that once used stones and fire to kill each other and now we use words, and cloak-and-dagger moves to ruin other peoples lives until we bring them to mere existence. The theory is not something new.It is now, already a default human behavior, the theory itself, and whoever adopted it, just states the not-so-obvious reality.

Personally, I think that being aware of this fact, is one of the most useful things I posses. Seeing most of the people around me as politicians gives me an advantage, although I learned this lesson the hard way, and I still feel the consequences.Yes there are also honest people out there, but as it usually happens, the majority overtakes and assimilates the minority, just give it time.

Still, in my opinion, having a black heart is no advantage. Not being able to feel anything for those people you stab in the back, you lie and stump over just so that you get your desired piece of this worlds carnal pleasure, means that you are long gone. That just means that you are ruined as a human being, and that all that is left of you is this black thing you call a heart, and a thick face that falsely smiles to hers/his next victim.
